Two or three days can be a practical starting schedule for yoga if that fits your life. It is a scheduling choice, not a guarantee of particular health results. The type of practice, your experience and your health needs matter too.
Choose two opportunities first
Look for times when you can practise without rushing or losing needed sleep. For example, you might choose a weekday class and a familiar home practice at the weekend. These are examples, not preferred days or a prescribed frequency.
If you want a third opportunity, leave it optional at first. You can decide later whether it adds something useful or simply makes the week harder to manage. There is no need to practise daily to justify the sessions you do attend.
Use a session you understand
If you are new to yoga, ask a suitable teacher to help you choose a practice you can follow. A list of standing poses or joint rotations is not enough instruction to establish how you should perform them.
For home practice, use familiar movements and alternatives you have been shown. Allow time to settle and stop comfortably, but there is no universal three-minute, eight-minute and four-minute formula. You may stop early without filling the remaining time with another task.
NCCIH notes that yoga styles differ in their demands. Qualified instruction and appropriate modifications can help reduce avoidable risk, but no teacher can guarantee that a session is safe for every person.
Check the shared space
Agree a time where possible and check that you have room for the movements you intend to do. Keep routes through the room clear. A small corner is useful only if the practice fits it; do not force a sequence into an unsuitable space.
You can use Making Room for Yoga in a Shared Indian Home to think through the practical arrangements.
Adjust after trying the schedule
Notice whether you could attend without rushing, understand the instructions and recover comfortably. Shorten, change or skip the next session if needed. Do not double a later practice to make up a missed day.
Stop for pain, dizziness or other concerning symptoms rather than waiting for discomfort to become sharp. Discuss health-related restrictions with a healthcare professional and tell your teacher what they need to know. Repeated symptoms call for assessment, not a more disciplined calendar.
