A No-Jumping Cardio Session for a Shared Flat
Consider pace, space and your needs before choosing no-jumping activity. Avoiding jumps does not guarantee silence or make every session easy.

You can choose aerobic activity without jumping, but a no-jumping session is not necessarily silent or easy. Your pace, health, balance and room all affect what is suitable.
In a shared flat, start by checking the space and whether the timing works for other people. A mat cannot guarantee that footsteps will not travel through the floor.
Prepare a clear area
Leave room to step without hitting furniture or another person. Check your footing and choose suitable footwear. If you use a mat, make sure it stays in place; do not add a sliding layer just for cushioning.
If the space is too small for comfortable movement, choose another location or a different activity.
Try an easy stepping option
If standing activity suits you, begin with slow steps in place. You can try a small step to one side and back, keeping the movement within the clear area. Add comfortable arm movement only if it does not disturb your balance or hit nearby objects.
Pause after a short spell and decide whether to continue. There is no required ten-minute minimum. Start and finish at an easier pace rather than rushing into a demanding session.
If you need support or standing is unsuitable, ask about an appropriate seated or supported alternative. Do not improvise a difficult balance exercise to raise your heart rate.
Separate effort from noise
If the session disturbs someone, change the activity, location or timing. Slower stepping may help noise, but it does not eliminate all vibration.
Pain, dizziness, chest discomfort or unusual breathlessness needs a different response: stop and seek appropriate help. Do not treat symptoms as a reason simply to use a thicker mat or keep going more slowly.
Understand what counts as cardio
An activity's intensity depends on the person and the effort, not whether it includes jumping. Quiet squats or long holds may be strength work rather than a substitute for aerobic activity.
Use suitable activities across the week according to your circumstances. For related ideas, browse Small-Space Home Exercise.
